About the Course

In close-quarter situations and sudden escalations of violence, hand-to-hand combatives play a crucial role in creating the necessary space and opportunity to draw your firearm safely and effectively. You establish control, create distance, and buy the precious seconds needed to access your firearm. It not only empowers you to fend off an immediate threat, but also enables you to assess the situation more accurately before deciding whether to escalate to the use of lethal force.

In this workshop, we’ll go through key defensive techniques, tactics, and thinking for addressing these situations. Some of the things you’ll learn include:

  • Dealing with different types of defensive situations where you cannot immediately use your weapon

  • Learning to work in a dynamic situation

  • Retaining and accessing your weapon in a fight

  • Dealing with a dangerous scuffle

  • Creating the opportunity to draw your weapon, even under challenging conditions

  • Enhancing your decision-making under stress

We will work on different scenario variations, based on principles that can be adopted for various types of operators and gun owners.

Level: Offered in Beginner or Intermediate modules (see event posting for each specific course level)
