  • Are the courses safe for beginners?
Yes! Safety is our priority in all our courses. In our firearms courses, we constantly assist and assess participants for safety, and will never prematurely progress anyone. In our combat and self-defense courses, we work within the participants' abilities, and actively provide regressions as necessary. All courses are scaled and individualized as necessary, and prioritize safety above everything else.
  • 1. What safety measures are in place during training sessions?
Safety is the top priority in all our courses. All sessions are conducted by highly experienced instructors who ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and usage of firearms. Protective gear, such as ear and eye protection, is mandatory. Our team is trained to manage risks and ensure a safe learning environment. In addition, we keep our classes limited in size, so our instructors and assistants can give proper individual attention to the kids. Furthermore, participants are given the space to learn at their own pace, so anyone that the instructors feel needs more attention is provided individual and separate guidance.
  • 5. How can firearms training benefit my child beyond just learning to shoot?
Firearms training teaches discipline, focus, and responsibility. It enhances hand-eye coordination, situational awareness, and critical thinking. Additionally, it builds confidence and can foster a sense of community through participation in shooting sports.
  • 3. Won’t my child become violent if they learn to use firearms or learn self-defense?
It's a common concern, but research and experience show that both learning to use firearms responsibly and training combat and self-defense actually has the opposite effect. With firearms, proper training always emphasizes safety, discipline, and respect for the power of firearms, which reduces any fascination with violence. In proper training environments, children learn that firearms are tools to be handled with care and responsibility, not toys or means for aggressive behavior. They are taught to follow strict safety protocols and understand the serious consequences of misuse. This education helps demystify firearms and can reduce the allure of them being seen as "forbidden" or dangerous objects. With combat and self-defense training, on the other hand, kids are able to channel their energy into disciplined, structured practice that emphasizes respect and self-control. They learn the importance of using their skills responsibly and only in self-defense, and in building self-discipline and restraint. This holistic approach not only reduces aggressive tendencies but also fosters a more mature and balanced perspective on conflict and personal conduct. Both firearms and combat skills training encourages the development of important life skills such as self-discipline, patience, and critical thinking. Children learn to remain calm under pressure and make thoughtful decisions, which are qualities that can translate into better conflict resolution and non-violent behaviors in their everyday lives. Overall, the structured and respectful environment can help instill a sense of responsibility and maturity in children, making them more aware of the importance of safety and the value of life, and encouraging positive and productive behavior.
  • 4. What type of firearms will my child be using?
The kids class (Ages 7-12) will be working with .22 rifles, which are easier for children to handle and control safely. They will also learn archery, which is great for developing hand-eye coordination and marksmanship skill at this age. The teens class (13-17) will be learning on 9mm Pistol Caliber Carbines (PCCs), which are safer and easier for teens to use, and allows them to focus on marksmanship and skill building. PCCs better allow for development of fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, and solidifying the basics of shooting, like proper stance, trigger control, breathing, etc. Progression to other firearms depends on the child's development and comfort level.
  • 2. In the shooting courses, will my child be exposed to real firearms, and if so, how is this managed?
Yes, children will be introduced to real firearms under close supervision. The training starts with basic handling and safety before progressing to actual shooting, ensuring that children are comfortable and understand the importance of using a real firearm. The training emphasizes the seriousness and responsibility that comes with handling firearms. Children are taught to respect firearms through structured lessons, real-life examples, and constant reinforcement of safety rules.
  • 6. How can I support my child's learning and ensure they continue to practice safety outside of your courses?
Parents can support their child's learning by reinforcing safety rules at home, practicing safe handling and storage of firearms, and encouraging regular practice under supervised conditions. Engaging in discussions about what they've learned and staying involved in their progress is also beneficial.
